Boil water notice around Broad Avenue lifted

Gulfport officials have lifted a boil water notice for the area in and around Broad Avenue that includes Memorial Hospital.

Multiple tests performed by the Gulfport Water Works Division indicated the water meets the standards of the Safe Drinking Water Law.

A water main burst just south of the hospital on Sunday morning. The broken line was repaired but the city had to bring pressure back up and conduct water safety tests to assure it was clear.

Residents reported brown water coming from the taps at homes and at the hospital. Memorial was using bottled water and said patient care was not affected by the boil water notice.
