Playoff Preview: Pascagoula prepares for round two of football playoffs

The Pascagoula Panthers continue to show each and every week why they deserve to continue playing the game of football. They may not be undefeated or the regional champions, but that’s all in the past and honestly doesn’t even matter anymore.

What does matter is that they’re a team of gritty, hard-working playmakers and have been playing lights out, winning the last five games and scoring 90 points in just the last two games combined. The Panthers weren’t even phased by the first round of playoffs, shutting out Terry 41-0.

They deserve to play this Friday and every Friday after that, and in the wise words of defensive lineman Sebastian Ford, they’re just some dogs!

“We’ve got some dogs for real,” said defensive lineman Sebastion Ford. “We’ve got Jared Loper, Jeremiah, Dae Dae, Amarie, he’s not ranked yet but he’ll get ranked soon. We’ve got a lot of dogs though.”

“It’s just overcoming adversity like this weather, but we bring the intensity everyday to push each other to get better,” said wide receiver Chris Campbell. “Each week we try to make up plays and give us a good game plan to move forward from this week.”

“It’s a testament to all the work we’ve done since our freshman year. I think a lot of guys counted us out and predictions over the last few weeks have not gone our way and we’ve proved everyone wrong,” said quarterback Silas Corder. “I think us still being out here shows the grit and determination that we have.”

“Your goal every year is to make it to the playoffs and once you make it to the first round, your goal is just to earn another week of practice to get you to a Friday night,” said Head Football Coach Lewis Sims. “We’re just very grateful to be here. Thanksgiving is coming up and you want to count your blessings and name them one by one, well it’s a blessing to be able to get on a bus and travel to Hattiesburg to play football on Friday Night.”

Just like Coach said, the Panthers will hit the road to play Hattiesburg High this Friday night at 7pm. We wish Pascagoula the best of luck while on the road!
