Play of the Day: Stone High School dedicates Kevin Conard Field

On Saturday, an emotional pre-game scene in Stone County where the Tomcats gave the late Kevin Conard the ultimate tribute in the form of dedicating their baseball field after him.

The former long-time head baseball coach and serving athletic director at the time of his tragic passing in May, Conard meant a lot of things to a lot of people and it’s hard to think of a better way to honor him and his family.

The ceremonial first pitch was thrown out between Conard’s two sons with older brother ace pitcher and South Alabama signee Gehrig Conard doing the catching.

Stone went on to beat Picayune 8-3.
