Plant it Pink

A new pink crepe myrtle tree and ribbon shaped flowerbed are now planted in front of Singing River Health System’s Ocean Springs Imaging Center.
The Ocean Springs Garden Club donated the tree and pink flowers planted just outside of the center as part of their Plant it Pink project, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the club’s fifth year donating the plants. The ribbon formation may not look pink now but the colorful snap-dragons should be in bloom by this weekend.
Operations Manager for Ocean Springs Hospital Radiology Rachel Nelson said, “This is just something that we do as part of the community, to join together to bring recognition to such a great cause.”
Traci James with the Ocean Springs Garden Club said, “Obviously, there’s a lot of people affected by breast cancer. It’s just our way of saying thank you and thank you to the community and get out and get checked.”
The Ocean Springs Garden Club will continue to plant more pink myrtle trees around the city until the end of the month.
