Plant Generates Electricity From Coal
A huge development for Mississippi Power and their goal toward making the Kemper County Power plant a reality. Mississippi Power Company say the plant they are building in Kemper County has generated electricity from coal for the first time. Southern Company, Mississippi Power’s parent company based out of Atlanta, announced the electricity was generated during a test yesterday. The company also says it has turned coal into a synthetic gas then removed carbon dioxide and other chemicals before burning the gas. The much delayed and ever rising Kemper County plant now sits to be completed by November 30th a cost of six point eight billion dollars.
