Plans for 34th Street green space

Back in November, the City of Gulfport cut the ribbon on the brand new dog park located on 34th Street right next to the community garden.

Gus Wesson, director of leisure services in Gulfport, tells News 25 since they have had such good luck with the park and the garden they have big plans for other land on 34th Street.

City leaders want to utilize the green space and cultivate it so more people can come and enjoy it. “We have plans for a bike trail which we have a grant for already. We are about to start construction on that. We just recently got a grant for the outside classroom and nature trail that’s going to be a couple year project. I mean, it’s a couple phases,” said Wesson.

Wesson told News 25 they would love to have most of the outdoor classroom established by the end of 2019.
