Pink Dress Run returns to Downtown Gulfport for breast cancer awareness

The fifth annual 5K Pink Dress Run took place in Downtown Gulfport this weekend as beer drinkers and athletes spread awareness for breast cancer.

Registration began at 8 a.m. outside Chandeleur Island Brewing Company on 14th Street and the pinked-out runners left the start line at 9 a.m.

There were 275 runners pre-registered, making this year’s event the largest to date.

Proceeds collected from the run will go to the Memorial Hospital Foundation, providing financial aid to men and women being treated for breast cancer.

There was also karaoke, a raffle, and plenty of post workout refreshments for those who hit the pavement running. Co-Founder John Carter said, “Being in the downtown environment, having all the food trucks, the music, we’ve got a bunch of little games for kids, the beer here at Chandeleur you can’t beat, so. I mean it pretty much has its own draw in itself.”

Registration for adults was $30 each, all of which benefits the foundation.
