Pineville Elementary named 2019 National Blue Ribbon School

It was a celebration in blue this morning at Pineville Elementary School as they recognized the hard work of students and teachers recently named a ‘2019 National Blue Ribbon School.’

This award, presented by the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes exemplary schools nationwide based on their overall academic success and their progress in closing achievement gaps among students. Pineville Elementary was one of 362 schools named.

Today’s celebration was complete with kind regards from school board staff, performances from West Harrison High cheerleaders and band, as well as students thanking their teachers in speeches. Teacher Ashley Hicks said, “This award shows that we have accomplished the highest achievement in our nation.”

Teacher Suzanne Baldez said, “It is satisfying to know that all of our hard work has paid off. We have worked really, really hard these past couple of years. The students, the teachers, the faculty, we work hard.”

Pineville will officially receive the award at a ceremony in Washington D.C. next month.
