Pickleball courts open in Bay St. Louis

Bay St. Louis residents are celebrating the opening of two pickleball courts today.

This comes after years of requests to city leaders to add pickleball courts at McDonald Park. There are more pickleball courts, corn hole, and several pavilions in the near future. Mayor Mike Favre said, “As you can see, there are a lot of enthusiastic people out here to play. Looking for more to come in the future.”

Bay St. Louis City Councilmember Gene Hoffman said, “We’ve probably had fifteen people playing pickleball and waiting their turn to play pickleball. We hope that continues through the week and through the years to come. We are hoping to expand, get some more courts out here and some tennis courts as well. All and all, we think it’ll be a wonderful facility.”

Pickleball player Golden Fairconnetue said, “I’ve gotten to a couple of games, I’m 2 – 0 right now. So, anyone wanting to come out and challenge, come out. This is beautiful, thank God for our city and all the people instrumental in getting this done.”
