Picayune’s Jamonta Waller receives the Maroon Tide’s first ever Under Armour All-American Jersey

When researching what it takes to be an All-American, one result says it’s a person who demonstrates outstanding achievements both on and off the field in several different categories, and that definition perfectly describes Picayune’s Jamonta Waller.

The Picayune Memorial high school gym was filled with proud teammates, coaches, family members, and friends as the senior outside linebacker and defensive end received his Under Armour All-American jersey.

The 5-star Florida commit is the first ever player from Picayune high school to be selected to play in this prestigious All-American game. Waller will have the opportunity to spend a week in Orlando, Florida training and competing with some of the best high school football players. Waller says putting on the All-American jersey meant the world to him.

“It’s just another thing that was on my goal list and I’m just ready to get there and play with the best talent in the world and put on for my state,” Waller said. “You know I like the accomplishments and stuff like that, but I try not to let it get in the way. I know we’ve still got a bigger goal here to get that third one done here. Just going to keep working and work for the playoffs.”

Waller and the rest of the Maroon Tide will continue their journey towards a third straight gold ball as they host Hancock high school tonight.
