Picayune Police foil attempted robbery of mowers at Home Depot
Three men are in jail, accused of trying to steal more than $20,000 in lawn mowers.
Police say 20-year-old Wilajon Sherrod Trail, 20-year-old Willie James Joseph II and 18-year-old Luke Emmett Joseph are charged with attempted grand larceny and possession of burglary tools. They are in the Pearl River County jail.
The investigation began December 31, 2022 when police received a report of an attempted burglary at Home Depot. Security photo showed suspects in a black Ford F-350 pulling a trailer. The vehicles had no tags.
Another attempt was made on February 1 and photos showed the same subjects.
Then on Tuesday about 1:52 am, patrol officers saw two people run from the woods near Home Depot and get in a black Ford F-350. Police stopped the vehicle for no tags.
When officers returned to Home Depot, they found security cables cut on three mowers. Video footage shows the suspects cut the cables about 1:42 a.m.
