Picayune Police Department addresses officer’s arrest in Louisiana

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- The Picayune Police Department is sharing details on an arrest of an officer.

Officer Mike Alquist was arrested in Pearl River, Louisiana Tuesday, charged with injuring public records.

Alquist was an officer in Pearl River from April 2016 to May 2025 before becoming a Picayune officer in March.

Chief Joe Quave says Alquist has served the community honorably and without any issue.

Chief Quave shared that the Pearl River Police Chief and Captain Gerald Young met with him in July, referencing Alquist speaking negatively about the Pearl River Department.

Chief Quave says at this time no action will be taken and the city will wait as the judicial process takes place.

Officer Alquist will continue to serve the city as an officer.
