Picayune PD installs microchip scanning station

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- The Picayune Police Department is offering a way for pets to be scanned for microchips after hours.

Found pets can be brought to the police department on Wildwood Drive. The sign and scanner are located on the west side of the building near the safe exchange spots.

If the animal does have a microchip, a number will pop up on the scanner and a QR code will take you to a website where the number can be put in.

The code will tell you what company the number is registered to, giving you a number to call the company.

A second QR code can be found, taking to the shelter’s website to submit a lost animal report.
