Phase two of the Ingalls improvement project kicks off

The City of Pascagoula posted on their Facebook page a traffic alert warning drivers that starting today lanes on the north side of Ingalls Avenue will be closed.

A section of Ingalls Avenue from Market Street to Pascagoula Street will be reduced to two lanes for the next two weeks.

Traffic will be diverted to the south side of Ingalls Avenue so that construction can commence. The construction is part of the Ingalls Avenue improvement project.

Ingalls Avenue between Pascagoula Street and Desoto Street is now open.

Moving into the second phase of the project, the city is expecting completion of construction by December 2021. Pascagoula City Manager Michael Silverman said, “We’ve been fortunate enough to move to phase two on the project and right now we’re working on the street deconstruction component that means addressing the utilities underneath the street along with tearing up the concrete base and the asphalt top.”

The $5.6 million project will replace water mains, sewer lines, storm drains, and repave Ingalls Avenue while also adding a new sidewalk for pedestrians.
