Peterson wishes Harrison County Sheriff’s Department well after swearing-in ceremony
One of Matt Haley’s first duties as Sheriff was to administer the oath to Harrison County deputies and staff.
Staff from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department gathered at the Lyman Community Center to show their dedication to another year of serving the county.
Some are new and some are old, but all stood together delivering the same oath.
Newly retired sheriff Troy Peterson attended the swearing-in ceremony to wish his former staff well.
“I’ve taken something the last eight years and built it how we wanted to build it. Now, there’s someone else coming in who’s going to build it the way they want to build it. You know, I know he’s not going to tear the walls down and do anything extreme, but he’s going to make it that much better,” Peterson said. “And that’s what I look forward to. I look forward to seeing the people who work here benefit from it the most. That’s what’s always made me happy and it will make them happy. It will be a good place to work.”
Peterson says he’s excited for retirement and to start fishing a little bit more. As for what’s next career-wise, he hasn’t quite decided.
