The performance of a lifetime for the West Harrison High Band

Families across the Mississippi Gulf Coast kicked off the holiday season watching the West Harrison High School marching band perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The entire band spent a week in New York City, taking in the sight and sounds, all leading up to the once in a lifetime experience of marching in the Macy’s Parade.
Today, News 25 caught up with the man who was responsible for making it all happen and ensuring that the Hurricanes were ready to perform on a national stage. He says the experience was huge for his school and the students served as excellent ambassadors for our entire state. Band Director Tim Garrett said, “Being a newer school, the newest on the Gulf Coast, a lot of people still say what school is that? So, it’s great for us to kind of get on the map for our students and I think we did a good job being positive for Mississippi.”
Garrett applied for the band’s spot in the parade two years ago. West Harrison was one of only 12 bands to march in the big parade.
