People share why they’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo

People all over the Coast are celebrating Cinco de Mayo which is great business for our local Mexican restaurants, like Baja Beach in Biloxi.
The manager of Baja Beach tells News 25 Cinco de Mayo is their busiest day of the year. Restaurant staff say they’ve had about 300 customers so far and are expecting more to show up for happy hour.
News 25 caught up with Baja Beach employees and guests to find out why they’re out celebrating. “Why not celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Tequila! Margaritas! Tacos!” “Reason to drink.” “ For me, it’s my holiday because of my culture and it’s time to relax and have fun with your friends. I love Cinco de Mayo.” “Sometimes some places have free drinks and you get half off drinks. Who doesn’t want that?” “Tequila!” “It’s amazing and we love just having the festivities here.”
Cinco de Mayo is held on the anniversary of the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
