People Mission Baptist Church partners with Feeding the Gulf Coast for food drop
A local church in Gulfport gave back to its community in a big way!
People Mission Baptist Church, in partnership with Feeding the Gulf Coast, fed over 200 families today during its food drop.
The event was first come, first serve, until all the food was given away. Gulfport residents were given catfish, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and other vegetables.
With summer season officially starting today, Social Minister Shelmon Moore says this is a part of their mission to fight food insecurity. “A lot of times, a lot of the children sometimes don’t eat unless they’re in school. So, we want to make sure the families are being fed and the children are being fed while they’re at home as well and also, we wanna reach out to the elderly to make sure that the elderly is being taken care of as well.”
People Mission Baptist Church officials say more events like today’s food drop are being planned.
The last two-week summer camp will take place July 10th through the 19th for sixth through eighth graders. For more information on how to register, visit msaviationmuseum.org and click 2023 summer camp.
