Pedestrian severely injured after being hit by a train in Pascagoula

Pascagoula Police are reporting that a pedestrian was hit by a train near Hospital Road on Wednesday night.
Officers were sent out at 9:15 p.m. in response to the call that a pedestrian was hit by a train. When they arrived, they found a 63-year-old man with one arm and both legs severed. Initial investigation indicates the victim was sleeping on the tracks when the train hit him.
Officers applied tourniquets and the victim was taken to Singing River Hospital, then airlifted to USA University Hospital in Mobile.
The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
