Bicyclist hit, killed on Highway 63 in George County identified

Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating an early Wednesday morning incident that left a pedestrian dead.

MHP spokesman Cal Robertson said a pedestrian was on a bicycle on the northbound side of Highway 63 near Cooks Corner Road in George County when they were hit by a vehicle about 8:20 a.m.

The bicyclist, identified as 36-year-old John Goff of Lucedale, died at the scene.

Highway 63 northbound was shut down for about three hours while the scene was cleared.
