Pedestrian hit in Gulfport, woman arrested

A woman is behind bars after she hit a pedestrian and fled the scene on foot in Gulfport.
The 42-year-old male victim is in serious condition at an area hospital. It happened around 11:15 this morning. Investigators were out marking evidence and inspecting the scene at the corner of 29th Street and 58th Avenue near Canal Road.
The suspect was driving a 2009 GMC Savannah van when the pedestrian was hit. She was arrested a short time after fleeing the scene. Sergeant Josh Bromen with Gulfport PD said, “While the officers were in route they were notified that the driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old white female, had fled the scene on foot. Officers were able to locate her in the wooded area between 59th Avenue and Canal and she was taken into custody.”
