Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department warns of scam

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Another scam is going around in Pearl River County impacting the sheriff’s department.

These new scams include a person calling people claiming to be a deputy, investigator, lieutenant, or sergeant, and giving a badge or case number.

Usually, these calls relate to a warrant or fine regarding jury duty or an investigation.

As always, when in doubt, never provide personal information, bank details, or payment in any form over the phone.

Even if the name given is an officer’s name, the sheriff’s department says to hang up and call them directly to verify.
