Pearl River County School District selected for Digital Learning Coach Program

The Mississippi Department of Education announced the school districts selected for its 2021-2022 Digital Learning Coach Program, one of which is here in South Mississippi.

Pearl River County Schools will be one of 62 schools across the state receiving a digital learning coach to help teachers and administrators best utilize educational technology to improve student outcomes.

The digital learning coaches will provide weekly coaching conferences, classroom observations for a select number of PRC teachers, as well as school-wide support including digital lesson planning and professional development. Pearl River County Superintendent Alan Lumpkin said, “As we’ve entered into a pandemic over the past couple of years, virtual learning has come to the forefront and we provide the virtual learning option for our parents in our district from kindergarten through the 12th grade. So, just again, having that partner with the Mississippi Department of Education and having that additional digital learning coach is going to be a tremendous resource for our team.”

Schools that submitted applications to MDE for virtual learning support were chosen based on need and the expertise and proximity of coaches.
