PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV) – A new technology park is underway in Pearl River County. On Monday, officials kicked off construction of development with a groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the local advancement.
Pearl River County is breaking ground on the technology park in picayune, continuing the economic growth of the county. Governor Tate Reeves and members of the board of supervisors were in attendance for the ceremony.
The 30-acre site will host 10, 10,000 square foot buildings, each of which can be expanded, allowing the county to continue growing economically. Manufacturing and technology businesses are expected to find homes at this new park ,which is right across the road from Picayune Municipal Airport.
The technology park will offer many high-paying jobs to those in the community. The development will also provide opportunities for Pearl River County to reel in skilled workers from different parts of the state and beyond.
The first phase of the site will include the construction of the first two buildings with the projects expected to begin in the next few weeks. Pearl River County’s Director of Economic Development, Lindsay Ward says that once construction kicks off on those buildings, it will only be a matter of time before they have their first tenants.
As of right now, it is unclear when the project will be completed, but we are hoping to hear more soon.
