Pearl River Bridge repairs completed; bridge to open today

Repairs to the Pearl River bridge at the Mississippi-Louisiana state line are complete three weeks ahead of schedule and the bridge will re-open to traffic today.

Remington Webster with Key Constructors tells WXXV that the bridge work was able to be done early and the bridge should re-open this afternoon.

The bridge closed for repairs on July 6 to fix concrete guard rails damaged by two separate accidents. The work was expected to keep the bridge closed until August 11.

MDOT said last week that the work was ahead of schedule and the bridge would open early.

The work on the bridge — coupled with the ongoing widening project at Menge Avenue — caused delays as much as three hours on Interstate 10 eastbound into Louisiana.
