PCA three day rodeo finals begin today

Thousands of cowboys and cowgirls are making their way to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum for the Professional Cowboys Association Rodeo finals.

PCA Executive Director Bo Campbell said, “It’s going to be a good weekend and it’s something for the family. It’s a family event. It’s all about family in the rodeo world.” The three day Professional Cowboys Association finals rodeo just kicked off at the Coast Coliseum. The weekend is expected to bring in many people from the southeastern region to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Campbell says he’s expecting about seven thousand people in attendance. Rodeo attendee Brian May said, “Rodeo is life. Rodeo is living. These guys are professionals. They are athletes. It’s amazing what they put their bodies through.”

This is the 24th year the PCA holds the finals rodeo and Bo Campbell says next year they are coming back bigger than ever for their 25th anniversary. “It’s a big impact on this town. We are proud to be here. Next year will be our 25th anniversary and we are going to try to do bigger and better things.”

Bareback bronc riding and bull riding are amongst the eight different events that will be held throughout the weekend. The competitors will round up points throughout and the winners will be announced on Sunday. A total of $150,000 will be given out in cash prizes. Barrel Racer Amy Riley said, “It’s a great experience. It’s great people. Bo Campbell puts on an awesome rodeo. He really takes care of the contestants and puts on a great rodeo.”
