Paul Wallace Classic

Holiday basketball tournaments taking place all across South Mississippi are coming to a close today.
One of them is the third annual Paul Wallace Classic which takes place at Vancleave High School. The tournament features teams from Jackson, Greene and George counties.
There was plenty of competition to go around. The East Central girls took on Greene County, getting a 51-50 win after the game went into double overtime. East Central took on Stone County for the girl’s championship title. Greene County and Forrest County competed for the boy’s title.
Vancleave High boys basketball coach Robert Johnson said, “There’s been a lot of great competition here with it. It gives the kids something to work hard for and to look forward to. Everybody’s enjoyed it and we’re always looking for a great time. “
Vancleave basketball player Mark Robertson said, “What we like about it is we get to come over the holidays and really work hard and execute on both ends of the floor and end up winning games. We lost yesterday, unfortunately, so hopefully we can come back today and get a W.”
