Paul Adams with the Blood Center in studio to discuss blood donation

The Blood Center Public Relations Manager Paul Adams is in the studio to talk about blood donation.

Adams said one blood donation can save up to three lives.

He shares that blood levels across the country get lower during the summer months, especially between Memorial Day and Labor Day. During this time, it is really common for traffic accidents to occur, where blood is needed.

“Young people happen to be about 20 to 25 percent of our blood supply and so when they are out of school, when they are on summer vacation, when they are taking trips, they are not donating. And so, we really need the rest of the community to come out. The 40s, 50s, and 60-year-olds, that have that really great blood, that can donate,” said Adams.

The Blood Center has several blood drives in the area. To find a location to give, you can visit The Blood Center’s website.
