Pathways to Blue at Keesler Air Force Base

Over 250 cadets from universities in Mississippi and Alabama traveled to Keesler Air Force Base to learn about different career opportunities.
This is the second year Keesler hosted “Pathways to Blue,” an event that gives young men and women hands on experience on the base in Biloxi. The Air Force ROTC cadets witnessed K-9 training demos and practiced their aim in a shooting range.
Lucky volunteers also had the opportunity to see what it is like to be tased. ROTC Cadet from Ole Miss Charlie Moser said, “It shows me what would happen if I were to use a taser on someone else. So, I understand what I am going to be employing on someone.”
Budget officer Elicia Brown said, “We have all of these different career fields with security forces and with the dogs and tasing and shooting and there’s a lot that comes with the Air Force so that’s just an opportunity for them to get a hands-on experience with our teams.”
The students will be visiting Keesler today and tomorrow. They come from Samford University, Tulane, Tuskegee University, The University of Alabama and Ole Miss.
