Pass kindergarten students count on learning, fun at egg hunt

The kindergarten team at Pass Christian Elementary School turned an annual event into a lesson in sharing while the children had fun.
Each year, the team organizes an Easter Egg Hunt. This year, parents and family members donated more than 1,200 eggs filled with candy for the kindergartners.
The hunt gives the children an opportunity to practice counting with one-to-one correspondence.
It also gives them the experience of sharing fairly (or equally), said Principal Stacy Mooney. This year, the children started by planting grass in buckets that were bought for them weeks before the hunt began.
The children participated in all aspects of the planting and growing process. Watching the grass grow over several weeks helped to build anticipation for the big hunt, which took place Friday.
Family members were invited to participate and assist the littlest Pass Pirates as they counted the eggs they found. Each child could only collect 21 eggs.
With a little help from the adults, every child collected an equal number of eggs and the children learned about sharing fairly
