Pass Christian workers out in full force preparing for Sally

Over to the west in Pass Christian, the mayor and city employees have been working around the clock to prepare for Sally.

Mayor Chipper McDermott says barricades have already been put in the most flood-prone areas of the city.

By midday Monday, water from the Bay had already spilled over and flooded some residents’ yards and roads in the Timber Ridge subdivision and water was rising in other low lying areas of the city.

The mayor says drivers should avoid these flood prone areas over the next few days. “We put all the barricades out at all the normal places that flood. The harbor was issued a mandatory evacuation yesterday. People did a good job. There’s only a couple of boats left-that’s at two harbors. They have done what we’ve asked of them. Now, it’s just a wait-and-see game. It looks like something’s coming. It sure looks like that. Oh, sure I hope we get past this.”
