Pass Christian Health and Rehab residents raise funds for breast cancer research
Residents of Pass Christian Health and Rehabilitation held a community walk and silent auction today to raise funds for breast cancer research.
Many participants in the walk were long-term residents attending the facility for physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
They used the event to get some exercise, fresh air, and enjoy the cool weather.
Courtney Williams, director of marketing at Pass Christian Health and Rehabilitation, says it’s the small things that make residents feel connected and engaged with the community.
She explained how the community chose breast cancer for their annual charity drive and why the walk is important for the residents. “So, the residents chose – every year, they have an option to pick what organization they want to give back to. They chose breast cancer, so I decided to do a breast cancer walk so we can get them out and get money raised. We were worried about the rain at first, but the sun is out and the residents had a good time, and that’s all that really matters. It’s just being able to get them outside, and being able to enjoy each other, and the sunlight. So, to be able to get them outside and enjoying each other is special.”
