Pass Christian Elementary students celebrate Black History Month
Pass Christian Elementary students celebrated Black History Month by hosting a program inside the gym.
The performance was titled ‘Yes, You Can,’ which highlighted the idea that students can do anything they put their minds to.
The students sang, danced, and gave short speeches. We’re told they spent several weeks preparing for this performance.
The program allowed students a chance to step out of their comfort zone and showcase their talents while also learning about black history. Pass Christian Elementary Principal Stacy Mooney said, “You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. So, it’s very important that not only African American children are a part of this, but that it’s all inclusive so that everyone knows. Character has no color and so it’s a very good inspiration for all of us, no matter what the age, to be reminded of what came before us.”
A special surprise also took place for Dr. Freda Dedeaux who has been teaching with the Pass Christian School District for over 38 years.
