Pascagoula to Elect New Councilman for Ward 1
Pickett is new to the City Council, but has served on the Jackson County Civic Action Board and Pascagoula Strategic Planning Board. He also taught in the Pascagoula School District for 40 years. If elected, Pickett says he would focus on road repair and infrastructure, as well as enhancing communication with Ward 1 residents.
Pickett says, “They need to be more informed about what is going on in the government and such there. They need to be aware of things that are taking place and how it’s going to affect them.”
Stallworth says, “If your house has been flooded five or six times, and some of them have in certain neighborhoods, how would do you feel? Let’s fix that problem, because if they vacate, we lose part of our tax base. I want the people to be served and served right.”
Stallworth served on the Pascagoula City Council for 16 years before being defeated by Taylor last year. While in office, his main focus was cleaning up the streets of Ward 1 and working with Habitat for Humanity. The election will take place September 16th in Ward 1.
