Pascagoula star brings home 2024 MHSAA Mr. Basketball award back to Jackson County

The 2024 MHSAA Mr. and Miss Basketball award winners made the trip to Clinton, MS on Tuesday morning to be presented with their awards.

Among the 14 best high school players in the state was 6A star and Pascagoula’s own Dorian McMillian.

The Panthers star had himself a remarkable season – reaching the 1,000 career point total back in November, and leading his team to a 29-2 overall record where the Panthers strung together 29 straight wins, including a district championship.

Dorian spoke after receiving his award about what a moment like this means to him and he said, “It’s a pretty big honor. Just because there are a lot of people in the 6A class that are really talented and stuff. I’m just blessed to receive the award. It just…it feels good, you know, you have to trust in your work and believe in it and it all played out.”

After receiving his award, Dorian told WXXV that he will be making his college commitment on Saturday, April 20th. The Panthers star holds several division 1 offers including Mississippi State, Southern Miss, and Tulane.
