Pascagoula Senior Center holds inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Today, the Pascagoula Senior Center hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

The 3K walk was around the senior center building, which made it easily accessible for those who walk with canes, scooters, or wheelchairs.

Among the walk, members came together to honor those they lost to breast cancer and encouraged survivors to keep fighting.

Rachel Chandler is the event organizer. She says the event was personal to her since she lost her mom to breast cancer when she was 14. “She won’t be there at my wedding, you know. She won’t be there for other different aspects of my life. She wasn’t there when I graduated. You have bittersweet memories. I just wish I could have had more, but I wasn’t able to because we caught it too late.”

The Pascagoula Senior Center is hosting a breast cancer jewelry event this Monday at 10 a.m. Email for more details.
