Pascagoula River Audubon Center gets a head start on spring cleaning
The Pascagoula River Audubon Center was able to get a head start on spring cleaning with the help of some local organizations.
More than 50 volunteers from Mississippi Power, Singing River Health System, Chevron, and Ingalls showed up to assist in sprucing up the property.
Together they spread gravel, filled potholes, cleaned up the native plant garden, made the trail path ADA accessible, and fixed up their kayak launch. Ingalls Infrastructure and Sustainability VP Eric Crooker said, “We actually are able to do something for the environment, do something for the community, and really build something we can be proud of in Jackson County.”
Chevron Community Affairs Representative Amy Brandenstein said, “We’ve been talking for a long time about doing something. This is the first one and there couldn’t be a better place. The Audubon Center is absolutely beautiful. We’re hoping to just restore it in several areas.”
The Pascagoula River Audubon Center always welcomes volunteers to their facility, especially those willing to help them with outdoor work.
