Pascagoula residents celebrate passenger rail service return

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- Hundreds of people also gathered in Pascagoula at the loading platform to get a look at the train as it made its way to Mobile Saturday.

That celebration consisted of performances from local marching bands, cheerleaders, and dance teams.

Mardi Gras krewes made appearances, dressed in their glitzy attire, and feathered umbrellas.

One group said they are excited to take a trip on the train just for the thrill of it.

The Amtrak Mardi Gras Service will officially open to the public on Monday and will offer one morning and one evening departure from Mobile and New Orleans each day.
