Pascagoula partially lifts boil water notice in the city

Pascagoula city officials have partially lifted the boil water notice that has been in effect since Monday.

Officials say the north quadrant north of Highway 90 has had water samples return to show that the boil water advisory is no longer needed.

However, the Southeast quadrant, south of Highway 90 and east of 14th street, remains under the boil water notice. Water samples were collected for testing today, but the testing is a 24-hour process.

The boil water notice went into effect Monday for the entire city after water main leak was detected, sending water pressure to dangerously low levels.

Since then, the leak has been found and repaired and water pressure is back to normal, but until tests indicate the water is safe out of the tap, the boil water notice will remain in effect for the affected area.
