Pascagoula Panthers advancing to second round of playoffs
The Pascagoula Panthers are one of the hottest football teams on the Gulf Coast heading into the class 5A playoffs and they’re going to stay hot for at least another week, just in a different way.
The Panthers are moving on to the second round by virtue of Brookhaven having to forfeit due to COVID-19.
The Panthers from the North are entering a 14-day quarantine period, effectively ending their season and allowing Pascagoula to advance to the second round for the first time since 2015 coincidentally with a win over Brookhaven.
The Panthers will play the winner of Hattiesburg and South Jones two Fridays from now, fresh off two straight wins to close out the regular season as the region 4 champions of a four-way tie breaker scenario.
