Pascagoula Mayor running for Southern District Public Commissioner

This morning, a large group of people gathered outside of the Jackson County Courthouse to hear Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell make a big announcement.

Mayor Maxwell announced his candidacy for the Southern District Public commissioner. The mayor has prior experience in this field. He previously served as chief of staff for a former commissioner.

If elected, Maxwell says he wants to crack down on robo-calls and spam e-mails. “Those are two big things that I am going to drive as hard as I can to change the laws to where they are stiff and they result in a lot larger fines for the misuse of those. If you are a robo-caller or spam sender, I am going to come and work hard to get rid of you guys.”

If elected into the new position, Maxwell will continue his role as mayor of Pascagoula until 2020.
