Pascagoula man accused of beating woman, leaving her in the street

A Pascagoula man has been charged with beating a woman, causing serious injuries.

Pascagoula Police say 27-year-old Eddie Stanton Jr., has been charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault. He was taken to the Jackson County jail and bond was set at $50,000.

Police say on May 23, officers were called to the 4200 block of Lanier Avenue about a badly beaten female lying in the street.

The victim had injuries that she had suffered the day before and injuries from that day. During the investigation, officers determined the victim was not only injured by physical force but also by being struck with other objects, which resulted in broken bones.

Stanton was not at the residence when officers arrived, and the victim was taken to the hospital. Detectives signed charges against Stanton, who was taken into custody Tuesday without incident.
