Pascagoula High School teacher receives Jostens National Award

A Pascagoula teacher was very surprised today with a huge honor.

Pascagoula High School’s Crisla Herchenhan was awarded the Jostens Renaissance Teacher of the Year award. She was nominated by her fellow teachers.

Herchenhan is one of only three teachers in the entire country to win this award.

Herchenhan is also a coach at Pascagoula High and we’re told she was being recognized for the work she’s done this past year.

Alongside the award, she was also given an all-expenses paid trip to Dallas, Texas, and a shiny new ring.

When we asked Herchenhan how she felt after she received the award, this is what she had to say. “Humbled. Absolutely humbled. There’s a lot of great teachers, a lot of great educators. I have two in my family that have inspired me. And I love what I do and to be recognized like this makes it all worth it.”

The award was given out before the ‘clash of the classes’ annual games.
