Pascagoula High choral department performs ‘The Little Mermaid’

A young mermaid is giving up her life under the sea for love with a human prince.

The Pascagoula High School choral department’s rendition of The Little Mermaid is being performed tonight through Sunday for the general public.

Students auditioned in November and have been rehearsing since January.

Kindergarten and first grade classes were the first to catch a glimpse of the musical this morning.

Dr. Cherie Bowie, director of the choral department, explains the impact of musical arts. “For many kids in our area, this will be the only time they get to see a full Broadway musical. So, I think this is something good for our community, I think it’s good just for our culture and I think it’s especially good for these students.”

Close to 45-members were cast for roles including high school students, faculty and staff, and honor choir students from East Lawn Elementary.

General public tickets are still available at showtix4u.com.
