Pascagoula fireman retires after 31 years of service

After 31 years serving the Pascagoula community, Lt. Rocky Smith is retiring!

Over three decades Lt. Rocky has worked every shift and managed every role a fireman could undertake.

During a BBQ over the weekend, fellow firemen celebrated his 30-year career with laughs, food, and comradery.

Lt. Rocky was gifted his final fireman axe and thanked for his decades of service on social media. Pascagoula Fire Local 1469 Battalion Chief Wade Johnson said, “He was a great guy who loved his job and he had a huge impact on the citizens of Pascagoula. We’re sure going to miss him, a show of appreciation from our local union for the 31 years he sacrificed for us in Pascagoula. Congratulations! Enjoy it.”

Smith plans to spend his days fishing.
