Pascagoula Encourages Residents to Form Neighborhood Assocs.

The City of Pascagoula offered a presentation Thursday night on how to establish a neighborhood association with hopes of bringing Pascagoula communities closer together.

Opening a neighborhood association, if the locals decide to do so, would increase community ties within the city and help them to better accomplish specific goals in their neighborhood. City officials would like to encourage Pascagoula residents to help improve the city as a whole by becoming active members of surrounding neighborhood associations, or even create one, if one in your neighborhood doesn’t exist.

Jim Blevins, Mayor of Pascagoula, says, "Neighborhood associations are a tremendous grass roots way for the local people in that neighborhood to have a voice about some of the issues, to try to solve those issues together and get a lot of people in that neighborhood engaged. I think what we’ll get out of it is a great deal of improved pride about our neighborhoods and issues that will be solved."
