Pascagoula becomes icebreaker capital of the world
Pascagoula becomes the icebreaker capital of the world!
It comes after a trilateral agreement between the United States, Canada, and Finland was approved.
Bollinger Shipyards in Pascagoula is the only company in the United States to engineer and construct a polar icebreaker in over 50 years.
As a result, Bollinger will play a critical role in the trilateral pact.
The shipbuilders are under contract to build the Polar Security Cutter icebreaker for the United States Coast Guard.
The program will ensure access to both polar regions, while also giving the coast guard the ability to complete goals in any of Earth’s regions.
