Party with a Purpose

This month we are thinking all things pink! There’s another breast cancer awareness fundraising event coming up tomorrow night.

The South Mississippi ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ campaign will be hosting a ‘Party with a Purpose.’ It’s set to take place tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. at Woody’s Roadside Grill in Ocean Springs.

There will be great food, live music, survivors to tell their stories, and even jewelry making to share with a current patient. Dr. John McKee said, “When people understand that there is this big community behind them, it gives them strength. It is a very lonely experience to be told that you have cancer and then for the families, isolation, many times they have to go through that adjustment phase. But when you know that the whole community is behind you, it’s like medicine.”

All are free to come and for those high school students who need volunteer hours, organizers say help is welcome.
