Parents attend ‘Budget for Baby’ workshop in Gulfport

Today, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Gulfport hosted a free ‘Budget for Baby’ workshop for parents.

The workshop is catered towards parents, to help them care for their babies and help those expecting feel more confident and comfortable during the birthing process.

Parents received $50 Amazon gift cards, a handmade baby blanket, and other useful essentials.

The workshop also helps develop a family budget and introduce expectant Navy and Marine Corps parents to each other. Budget for Baby Lead Jenni Lawhorn said, “We provide them some really good information of how to calculate their income, set up income, basic budget, basics for their families. Think about expenses that may be brand new to their family if they’ve never had a baby before. Thinking how to offset some of those expenses, things to think about in their budget as far as cutting expenses out just to make things a little more financially stable for their family as they welcome their new bundle of joy.”

The workshop also offered free counseling.
