Parchman Inmate Stabbed to Death
The Mississippi Department of Corrections is investigating the early morning stabbing death of an inmate.
Authorities say 43-year-old Parchman inmate Randy Lee Burgess was pronounced dead at 2:44 a.m. in the prison hospital’s emergency room. He was transported there from prison suffering from stab wounds.
Burgess was serving four sentences for a total of 16 years from two counties. He was convicted in 2006 of uttering forgery, grand larceny, and shoplifting in Rankin County and armed robbery in DeSoto County.
The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
